Handmade Animal Spirit Cards. These teachings were taught to me by my Elder Louise Milburn from the Ojibway Nation and my Mom Kolette Cristante from the Cree and Metis Nation.

Not every Indigenous nation uses animal spirit nor does each animal have the same meaning. For example the meaning of a bear might have a different symbolization on the West side of Turtle Island (Canada) vs the East. Indigenous animals connect to a person’s personality treats and what life qualities they provide. Furthermore, a person can have more than one animal totem and their animal totem can change over time; as they grow and mature into their own identity.

These Animal Spirit Cards that I have made are all hand-drawn with a black sharpie and are the traditional animals to the West Coast. I was taught growing up as a kid that the animals all have something to teach us in life and each of them represent their own unique story.

What animal do you think you connect too?
