During our group discussion last class we talked a massive amount about copyrights. This is a very important topic for anyones knowledge but extremely teachers because they pass down information everyday to their students. As an educator it is so important to acknowledge where your work came from when teaching any subject. Furthermore, this is a promenade teaching in Indigenous culture, to always acknowledge where your information is coming from to give thanks that they have allowed you to pass down the knowledge they gave to you. I also just learnt that copyrighting happens everyday… it can be as simple as putting up a picture in-front of your class to demonstrate certain topic and forgetting to cite your resource – that is a prime example of copyrighting. This topic needs to be taken seriously and is something that all people should be aware of. “Just as you would want to protect anything that you own, creators want to protect their works.”
