Music can help students learn in SO many different ways. I find in our schooling systems music sometimes gets pushed aside as being not important but in reality, I find it is a tool for students’ success. Music can allow students to speak when words are not the answer. Music also allows people to enhance the creative side of their brain and let their minds flourish with my discoveries. Music is a great way for students to practice memorization (short term and long term), how to keep beat (rhythm), and express who they are as a person. Furthermore, music, ‘does a world of wonders’… for example it can be used a tool to destress, pump up, relax and be still, get emotions out, communicate, and express. Not only will it help students learn by pleasure but it can also be a tool for healing and understanding what others might be going through. Having to work this side of the brain and push people outside of their comfort zones also enhances self-confidence, brain power, and human growth. Physically music works on peoples’ fine motors kills. These skills enhance over the years of practicing the skills of an instrument as it allows for the muscles to adapt to what they are learning. Emotionally music lets people speak in a way that words can not describe sometimes. Playing an instrument can be a great stress reliever and way to tap into the right-side brain for some creative learning. Cognitively music allows people to learn a new skill and to try something they might have never thought of doing before. Music is a great tool to use in any classroom or school. It is one that I am excited to share with my future students and to insure in them how important music is for everyone.
